Two kic.in2.study S2R students had the opportunity to find out about the Formula Student event this week.

Formula Student is Europe’s biggest educational motorsport event. It challenges student engineers to innovate, design, build and compete as a team with their own single seat racing car. Formula Student 2009 is the UK’s 12th FS event and had over 135 teams from 23 different countries.
On Thursday David attended a press conference held by Ross Braun, Formula Student Patron. He was also able to interview Pat Symonds from Renault. On Saturday, David and James attended Silverstone where they saw many of the cars being tested – for acceleration, braking, noise, tilt and sprint.

As well as taking photographs and video footage they were able to carry out interviews with a number of people involved in the event. They hope to work on this in the next few days to get a package onto their S2R webpages.
S2R celebration
July 17, 2009 on 9:43 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsOn Thursday 16th July we celebrated the work of the Supporter to Reporter programme in Northampton. Over eighty people attended the event in the Ken Turner Suite at Northants County Cricket Club where students showcased the work done on the programme.

Students and members of staff spoke about what they’d learned, places they’d visited and sports personalities they’d interviewed. Paul Burnett, Director of Children and Young People’s Services commended the young people on their hard work and commitment, offering particular praise for the fact that the work had been done outside of school hours, in their own time. He pointed out to them that this attitude of commitment and persistence was exactly what employers of the future would be looking for.
