Six students attended a Duke of Edinburgh Award briefing at the Cobblers Study Centre tonight.  Margaret Hillyer outlined what was involved in working towards the Bronze level award and all six signed up on the spot!  They will begin the programme after October half term when they will make decisions about their options in terms of skills, physical activities, and service, as well as hearing about Margaret’s plans for expeditions.

Eighteen young people who had attended kic.in2.study over the last year were among those receiving awards at the Shooting Stars Award Ceremony organised by the Children’s Rights Service.

Reporters from the S2R programme, including two kic.in2.study students,  headed south with over seven thousand fans of Northampton Saints, to the game against Saracens which took place at Wembley Stadium – the first club rugby game to be played at the new stadium, and Saints 250th premiereship game.

Our students interviewed fans, marvelled at the new stadium, enjoyed the entertainment on offer,

and cheered the Saints on to a near win – the final try in the last minute was disallowed, leaving Saracens to win 19 – 16.

On 2nd September a group of S2R reporters including some of the kic.in2.study group spent a day at Silverstone.  After getting to know each other and reviewing the NorthamptonS2R webpage we were taken on a track tour by Vicki who is the Study Centre Coordinator at Silverstone.  A Williams PR day was in progress and our students were able to video, take photos and interview some of those involved as well as visit the podium, race control and the workshops.

When we returned to the Study Centre we spent some time learning about the importance of planning and the use of storyboards and then the students went to work on creating a package about their day.  These can be seen on the Northampton S2R website.
