Duke of Edinburgh Award group

Six of our students have begun working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award. They have identified what they’ll be doing for the various units – volunteering, physical and skills and they’ve begun working on some of the skills needed for the expedition.

This week saw them cooking a meal on a trangia. They’d been given the challenge of planning something which could be cooked easily and they created a range including noodles, hot dogs, pasta, spaghetti bolognese and Angel Delight!  In the course of their cooking they were asked to think about the implications of some of these when they were on an expedition – would they be too heavy? Were the containers suitable? How much would they need?

Overall a good start – we may even have one or two Jamie Olivers in the group!
