Full Back
A variation on the Kic.in2.study programme is Full Back which takes place during school hours and is designed for students who would benefit from working in smaller groups.
During the summer term Full Back ran at the Saints Study Centre. Students followed a programme based on Playing for Success activities targeting ICT skills, literacy skills, problem solving and social skills.
They took part in a tour of the stadium where they learnt about the history of the club as well as facts and figures about the stadium itself. They interviewed members of the Community Coaching team and used their ICT skills to record what they had learnt. They were fortunate to have tutoring from Kevin Burke the County Jester who introduced them to Circus skills and they also had the opportunity to receive table tennis coaching.
These students demonstrated particularly good ICT skills and completed some excellent control technology work where they designed, built and programmed a mind storm Lego robot, working on direction, speed, timing and turning. They also produced photostories using photographs, customised transitions, music and text. They responded well to opportunities to work on the Apple Mac computers and produced Comic Life pages based on photographs of the Circus skills workshop using drag and drop techniques.
