Grendon
June 10, 2008 on 2:24 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentDuring half term year seven and eight students had a fantastic day at Grendon Outdoor Education Centre where mountain biking and raft building were the order of the day. Mountain biking over an obstacle course which included a seesaw and a limbo pole gave us a chance to develop individual skills whilst raft building (in the rain) focused on team work. Most students gave the day full marks for enjoyment. Comments included “The best day ever”, “Terrifying but fun,” and words such as Excellent, fantastic, funnilicious, brilliant and awesome.
Kic at the Emirates
June 9, 2008 on 12:14 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsFourteen young people and four members of study centre staff visited the Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal FC during May half term. We began with a tour of the stadium including visits to the directors box, the press lounge and the changing rooms. We were very impressed by the size of the stadium and by the luxuriousness of the changing rooms. We weren’t able to go near the pitch because there was work going on to set up for a concert later in the week.
We also went to the club museum where we learned a lot about the history of the club, and to the club shop where we saw a huge range of Arsenal memorabilia.

Year 6 Kic.in2.study students attended the Cobblers Study Centre over the Spring term, with two outside visits to the Saints Study Centre to take part in a Circus Skills workshop and a Shakespeare/drama workshop.
At the Cobblers they enjoyed a wide range of teambuilding games,
produced some impressive creative writing in the form of “fruit poems”, took on the player maths challenge and became very adept at using digital cameras and using the photographs to create a slideshow with photos, text, fancy transitions and music. They used Powerpoint, Publisher and Photostory and took on the X box challenge - but didn’t quite beat Jean!
Evaluations from the students were very positive - everyone gave the programme full marks. Words used to describe their time on Kic.in2.study included fun, useful, interesting, excellent, super, and cool. Most people couldn’t identify a favourite activity as they had enjoyed everything. Two people thought the computer work was best, especially Photostory.
